Fire Finches in Fall

It's a new window for the new season; the Fall window display for Fire Finch is up at the Hillsboro Village store. I kind of LOVE it. Have you been in lately? There's been quite the transformation- and all done by the Finches themselves!

Bigger Pictures and Discovering Music City

I thought I wouldn't get around to posting these till tomorrow, but I just can't wait! This morning I installed the fall window display at Rodney Mitchell's Salon in Hillsboro Village. The inspiration was vaguely "back to school"; the focus of my interpretation is the travel. Stacks and stacks of old books can be a world of information and comfort, so I've included them amongst the suitcases of our Nashville bound student- let's call her Autumn. Traveling to a new city is one of my favorite learning experiences. Autumn is a traveler, too. She looked around the globe for the next destination, and decided to check out Music City. Maybe she'll like it, maybe she'll love what she discovers and will stay awhile, but Autumn still has worlds yet to be explored!

It Takes a Village to Assemble a Window

Or: I assembled my new window design at Fire Finch in the Village, with the helpful hand of Amanda B. Perfect for summer- the swing, the tree, the grass; it just makes me want to go to the park! If you are in Hillsboro Village swing by ( get it "swing" by, hahaha) and check out the fruits of my labor.

This Is What's Next

It's the new window display at Rodney Mitchell's in Hillsboro Village. This one came together like a fun little puzzle. The portrait was already done (not by me), and suggested for use in this new set up. After a bit of pondering, I decided to paint baby pieces to make a substantial canvas family. In the spirit of Earth Day I incorporated my recycling -as well as some from my thoughtful friends- to make a tin can army on the window ledge. These tin cans are similar to an artist's jar of brushes, and since in this case the artists are hair stylists, instead of paintbrushes they are full of combs! It came together with a bright pop- arty feel to it- perfect for the sunny days we're about to have!

Window for Rodney Mitchell Salon in Hillsboro Village

Last week I installed a window display for Rodney Mitchell's Salon in Hillsboro Village. I'd been working on the pieces for it in the studio, and seeing it all come together the way I'd envisioned was very rewarding. The salon stylists loved it, too, which made me smile even more. It's such an awesome feeling to be excited about what you're creating in private and then see other people share that excitement when you display it publicly. If you're in the Village, look for it in the window directly across from Bosco's.

Back To Work!

I've been back at Fire Finch this week, and on Friday I put up a new window display in the Village store. In the spirit of the season I made a kite out of fabric, dowel rods, glue, and a little fishing line. It's sailing through bright blue sky below the fluffy white clouds, with a long fluttering tail!
It's difficult to get a good picture due to the glare off the window, so this pic is me looking up from underneath. You can't see the whole thing here, so maybe you should just drop by and check it out :)

As Promised...

...Pics of the completed window display for Fire Finch in Hillsboro Village. The animals and leaves are cardboard with many layers of tissue paper and Mod Podge.
