It's A Big One

Tomorrow evening is going to be a big one as the Nashville art scene goes. There will be so much to see and do! Here are some of my top picks:
Eastern Block playing in the Arcade.
Crawling From the Wreckage playing in the DPC chapel.
Twist's 3rd Birthday celebration.
SNAP's photo exhibit + Art Luck at DPC.
Mir Gallery's exhibit.
Plowhaus relocation into the Arcade.
Tiffany Denton at the new Blend Studio.
Also, no big surprise, but Tiffany's work has a spot on the news!

Procrastinating?

Try www.yearbookyourself.com for a new way to do ridiculously good things with snapshots of yourself/ people you love(?). I had to restrain myself here and only post one "yearbook pic"- enjoy.
This Saturday, being August 1st, is the First Saturday Gallery Crawl. I hope you are mentally and physically preparing yourself for the awesomeness that will ensue at 6:00 pm on Saturday. Eastern Block will be playing in the Arcade. Twist will celebrate it's 3rd birthday (Laura Baisden screen printed glorious posters for it). Downtown Presbyterian will host an "Art- Luck" dinner and opening reception for Nashville photography group SNAP's exhibit. Clearly, this will be an epic evening.

Your Name Must Be Summer, Cause You're Hot

Actually, the name of an upcoming photography show is "Summer". It will be hot, as is the group- SNAP- who are creating the show. I didn't know much about this group until I went to one of their meetings tonight- and really enjoyed it. Walking into it not really knowing many of the members seemed like it might be awkward, but I couldn't have found a much more welcoming and friendly gathering! Aside from the tasty olive tapenade and red Smoking Loon wine, the highlights of the meeting involved planning various group shows (@ Downtown Presbyterian Church), individual shows (@ Blend in the Arcade), community outreach (w/ kids @ area public schools), and FIELD TRIPS (to the Big Band dances @ Centennial Park)! Pretty sweet, huh? Want more info? They meet on the 2nd Tuesday of every month, as well as having several ways to connect online:
