It's A Big One
Tomorrow evening is going to be a big one as the Nashville art scene goes. There will be so much to see and do! Here are some of my top picks:
Eastern Block playing in the Arcade.
Crawling From the Wreckage playing in the DPC chapel.
Twist's 3rd Birthday celebration.
SNAP's photo exhibit + Art Luck at DPC.
Mir Gallery's exhibit.
Plowhaus relocation into the Arcade.
Tiffany Denton at the new Blend Studio.
Also, no big surprise, but Tiffany's work has a spot on the news!

Procrastinating?
Try www.yearbookyourself.com for a new way to do ridiculously good things with snapshots of yourself/ people you love(?). I had to restrain myself here and only post one "yearbook pic"- enjoy.
This Saturday, being August 1st, is the First Saturday Gallery Crawl. I hope you are mentally and physically preparing yourself for the awesomeness that will ensue at 6:00 pm on Saturday. Eastern Block will be playing in the Arcade. Twist will celebrate it's 3rd birthday (Laura Baisden screen printed glorious posters for it). Downtown Presbyterian will host an "Art- Luck" dinner and opening reception for Nashville photography group SNAP's exhibit. Clearly, this will be an epic evening.

Coming Right Up
Tomato Fest is sneaking up on me way to fast. This afternoon though, the wheels were set in motion and soon I'll be serving up some fresh new work. August 8th- see me in east Nashville, showing off my latest work AND celebrating my birthday- come on out!

Best of Show
Best in show booth winner at Firefly, Julie Sola, purchased my best seller at the show- the Iris Tee. Here she is, sporting the tee, and looking fly surrounded by her own gorgeous work! Snap up some of her work for yourself on Etsy!
PS. I've only got a few Tennessee Iris Tees left. For $17, you can have your own wearable Sarah Shearer!
the Firefly Five
I hope everyone's having a fabulous holiday weekend! I am reminiscing about the Firefly Art Festival of last weekend, and wanted to share some pics. Myself, and four other local artists were featured in a category of "emerging artists". As fine artists, our talents were diverse, but we all came to this as first timers at an outdoor festival. What an experience! Many artists go on festival circuits, have quite the elaborate set-up, and are well acquainted with the process. The Pro's! I am NOT a pro, but was actually pleased with my set -up and am confidant now I could do it again/ better. Maybe I will- we'll see...Honestly, the best part of the experience for me was the people I met. My festival neighbors, the Firefly Five, were the bomb: Derek Gibson, Kristen Burton Work, David Hellams, and Justin Nolan Key (left to right in the group photo). Maybe a re-union is in the future, but I know one thing for sure: next time we'll wait till the heat index is dips a bit below 105!

Bravo Is Calling
If you haven't already been texted, twittered, or facebooked about this already, you may be interested to read about Bravo's casting call for visual artists. Might not be my thing (I'd end up looking like the snapshot above), but I'm sure it's going to be an adventure for several brave souls out there!
