The Seventh Month

Mid- July. The second half of the year commences. Life has been busy, busy, busy lately! I participated in a show with a group of other Nashville artists; the show opened July 2nd at Blend and hangs through the end of the month. The exhibition, Combustion, featured work by Mandy Brown, Charles Clary, Amanda Dillingham, Jason Driskill, Derek Gibson, Hannah Maxwell Rowell, and myself.

10 Pictures and a Handful of Random Thoughts.

1) I am lacking a "domestic" gene. I can never quite bring myself to get excited over domestic-y endeavors. Not sure why- because I look at beautiful home blogs, like Heather Spriggs, and ohhh and ahh over their loveliness. Somehow it rarely translates to my life (I'm sorry Jon). The closest I usually come is yard work/gardening.

2) Jon and I met this weekend, 14 years ago, under the stars on a NC mountain. It changed my life, and me, in ways I never could have predicted.

3) It's true what they say about Naples, FL- lots of "blue hairs".Ha. BUT, it's a gorgeous town with lush green spaces and beautiful Gulf beaches. Delicious food. Diverse accents and nationalities. And a memorable motel just a 1/2 block off the beach called the Mariner.  Last weekend I roadtripped there with my bud, Cristina, and her brother.  Some documentation of explorations:

Stopped at the beach one evening while biking...

....we all just watched in wonder as the sunset. The sky was blazing orange and yellows- purple clouds and blue water.

When it finally dipped out of sight on the horizon, we all applauded. I've never experienced a sunset where that happened before, but it couldn't have been more fitting.

Olde Naples pier, near the Mariner.

Boats gathered in at dusk to watch 4th of July fireworks on the pier.

First time seeing fireworks over the ocean; I'm a fan!

Oh-no pics of these- but I also enjoyed sweet, juicy mangos (from the yard!) and yummy homemade pupusas during my stay- thanks momma Young!
