Doing Hard Time

First, I need to assert that if you have not been to the Frist lately, you are missing out. The Paint Made Flesh exhibit is phenemonal. Sure, maybe as a figurative painter I 'm a little biased, but whatev. It's GREAT. Apparently it's great enough that one non- local blogger feels it cannot possibly be fully appreciated in Nashville and laments the works "doing hard time" here; if you feel like laughing reading her cliche post. Second, there is another moving exhibit to see at the Frist titled "Seeing Ourselves:Photographs of Safe Haven". It is curated by Andee Rudloff and depicts the results of the Frist's outreach experience with the family shelter, Safe Haven. Paint Made Flesh

Only 2 more days till the new exhibit, Paint Made Flesh, opens at the Frist. I must say, it looks preeeetty cool. There are symposiums with guest speakers and other fancy what-nots over the weekend. John Currin 's work (among of course quite a few others) will be in it, which I have an ongoing fascination with. I don't love all of his stuff, but I do love how it seems like he was pretty influential in bringing the art world's focus to figurative painting after long period of....non- focus. Ha. I'm tired and can't think of the right word, so I'll go with non- focus. Also, I'll take that as a sign that I should get some sleep, so night night.
