Today I returned home to Nashville after spending the week in Charleston, SC- lucky me! It was a week full to the brim with wonderful fun and sweet friend time. I can barely keep my eyes open, but before I pass out I wanted to post 5 quick pics of some of my favorite moments and places in no particular order:
1) Cooper River Bridge- the longest cable stayed bridge in North America. With a bike and pedestrian lane, and an incredible view of the the harbor. ocean horizon and downtown Charleston while the sun sets- it's epic.
2) Flora & Fauna- wildflowers in the dunes, manicured secret gardens downtown, dolphins, bird watching. I can get lost in watching and looking.
3) B.F.F.'s- Hollie is the bomb (do people still say that?). I love you girl!
4) East Cooper Disco- chilling out, spontaneous fun.
5) the Ocean- I love it. I don't know what this gesture is that I'm doing, but I know that I am 100% happy!

Perfect Timing
After the sand cast, I tried resuscitation...
Then, in a fit of joy, I frolicked with HW.

and Jon :)
So, here I am back in Nashville, safe and sound. When "Hanna" actually hit the coast last night it was much less damaging then it could've been. It was a tropical storm, and it came in much further north than expected. Thankfully, the beautiful town of Charleston,SC didn't get demolished and everyone there stayed safe! Jon and I had a lovely week of beautiful sunny weather (and awesome huge waves) before driving back last night. One of my best friends, H.W. and her husband L.W., live in Charleston now. So, I got two great things in one: a super fun beach vacation and a visit with friends I love. LUCKY ME! This is what I did with my lucky self for the week: go to beach, eat, sleep, swim, beach, eat beach, sleep, eat, beach... maybe you can see a pattern...ahhh, perfection. By now probably everyone in a 900 mile radius knows I am freaking in LOVE with summer, so I'll spare you from proclaiming my love yet again.
Skipping forward a day, I worked at the boutique then headed downtown for the First Saturday Gallery Crawl. My accomplice, Jesse W, and I perused the scene. We saw alot of work, and the majority of it was quite good. Sometimes I go to openings and leave thinking, "Really!???" Not tonight, though. If you went, what were your favorites? If you didn't, I'm about to tell you mine, so stay tuned!

Labor- less Week!
The waves were pretty big!
Especially at Folly Beach ...
After playing in the waves, I created a sand cast for Jon.It's been such a fun week in Charleston! It looks like it's time to head out though, because Hurricane Hanna is headed toward SC. They're predicting it to come through Pawley's Island, which is about an hour and a half away. Charleston is now having voluntary evacuation, so I guess it's time to hit the road. I have a couple other pics I'll put up soon; right now it's time to pack!

Can We Go Back Next Week?

A Summer Storm Blowing Over Sullivan's Island
The Edgar Allen Poe Branch of Charleston's Library- on Sullivan's IslandStill thinking about our vacation last week, and what a wonderful time I had. Lovely, lovely, Charleston, SC. There were so many inspiring points- I almost don't know where to begin.
I'll start with Hollie. Hollie is the shizz. and has been for her whole life. We met as fellow art majors at Belhaven College back in the 90's. We were both quick to leave Belhaven behind after graduation, but after all these years we are still great, and even closer, friends. Just hanging out with a best friend like that was enough to make me smile.
Then, there's the beach. I mean, BEACHES !!! Isle of Palms, Sullivan's Island, Folly: three beautiful beaches with distinctive vibes. Isle of Palms: new buildings, slightly upscale, very touristy. Sullivan's Island: laid back atmosphere, pleasantly un-crowded, kinda quirky (Edgar Allen Poe lived here and wrote Gold Bug!). Folly Beach: surfer friendly, semi- bohemian, fun times.
Also, the historic city itself is not to be missed. My beach obsession left little time for city adventures; however, I did go on a bike tour through downtown. Well, not an organized tour, but one led solely by myself. I rode over the Cooper River Bridge (wow- amazing view), along the battery, and down Rainbow Row. Oh, and the interior of the Urban Outfitters on King Street is out of control. You should go. I should go back!
